The long-awaited SCUM Update 0.4 is finally live, and our partners from Gamepires have outdone themselves with this one, updating multiple mechanics, adding cool new features, and making our co-production baby the best survival game there is.
The SCUM Update 0.4 introduces a cool new weapon maintenance system, as well as weapon malfunctions to make your life miserable, provided you don’t take care of your killer toys. Joining the weapon malfunction system are brand new ammo types, along with their perks and advantages, as well as brand new weapon mechanics including revamped recoil animations, and different fire modes.
SCUM is also getting some new weapons, and the option to shoot some fools while driving your vehicles. Other changes include improved sound effects, new improvised gear to craft, and a ton of bug fixes, tweaks, and smaller changes.

“I would never have guessed it!” This is the sort of reaction we usually get when people learn that the same studio made both Serious Sam and The Talos Principle, one we heard many times before.
Yes, there’s a stark difference between a frantic first-person shooter and a philosophical puzzler, but guess what? Some of us love turn-based games even better!
So much so, that a group of Croteam’s lead engineers and turn-based lovers decided to form Room-C Games a few years back, a spin-off studio with the sole purpose of creating a turn-based game of their own. The team was soon joined by Jonas & Verena Kyratzes, a legendary writing duo that needs no special introduction to our fans, and soon The Hand of Merlin was born.
A fantasy turn-based rogue-lite RPG, where medieval arms clash with sci-fi horror, had an interesting time in development full of fun design choices (check out MarkoP’s amazing dev blog diaries here!), including the switch to the latest version of Serious Engine, but today is an exciting day as we’re happy to announce that The Hand of Merlin has joined the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition!
This means that you can play the exclusive demo right away, and take those first steps in Albion on your epic journey from Camelot to Jerusalem. Time is of the essence here, as the demo will vanish – pooof! – as soon as the Festival ends on Sunday.
The newly released teaser trailer will stay on the Steam game page a bit longer, as will your comments, follows, likes and wishlist actions – we’ll forever cherish those!

Hey everyone! It’s likely that some of you have already forgotten about The Hand of Merlin, so here’s a little breakdown. The Hand of Merlin is another co-production effort Croteam is involved with. A fantasy turn-based tactical game that started as part of the Croteam Incubator initiative, but has since evolved and grown into an elaborate project. With this evolution came many great things, but the one that stands out is the switch in technology.
Spoiler alert – The Hand of Merlin is now being built in the Serious Engine!
That switch is exactly what our partners from Room-C Games are focusing on in their ‘Status Update’ blog post available on Steam. Make sure to check a look, and press that “follow” button on the official Steam Page, as this Status Update is just the tip of the iceberg. Room-C Games are planning a bunch of updates leading up to the launch, currently scheduled for late 2020.
For all things The Hand of Merlin visit the official game page on Facebook and follow the game on Twitter. Follow Croteam on Twitter and Instagram, like us on Facebook, and subscribe to our YouTube channel. Oh, and don’t forget to join our ever-growing Croteam family on Discord and Reddit.
Scummin’? Is that even a word? Let’s pretend it is.
On Friday, when no one should be updating any games, Gamepires have done it again. It’s a tradition by now, so why the hell not, right? Anywho, a brand new SCUM update is live since yesterday, and it’s the biggest one yet with tons of new features and fixes.
The big new addition is Samobor, SCUMs biggest city released so far, in which you can explore some of the most beautiful locations the team has made since EA launch. Alongside the new city, the game has been updated with brand new weapon animations, an improved puppet spawning system, squad management, as well as new core gameplay features like limping and skills.
Five years ago today we have made something special. Out of nowhere, a team that was known for the absolutely chaotic Serious Sam series launched a much slower, calming game. Just like that, a philosophical puzzler The Talos Principle was born.
Over the course of five years, The Talos Principle has landed on all relevant platforms but one – Nintendo Switch. To celebrate the fifth anniversary of Talos, we’re changing that, and you can now enjoy The Talos Principle on-the-go. So, grab your handhelds and sharpen your minds before jumping into The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition.
The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition is playable on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite. In addition to the base game content, the Deluxe Edition explores a brand new narrative spread through four additional episodes as part of the Road to Gehenna expansion.
Jump into the simulation, solve puzzles, avoid drones, read the archives, and find out who you are, while enjoying stunning visuals and great performance while commuting, enjoying a flight, or simply hanging out at home, away from your TV!
We won’t be going far and wide with this one, as we know the best way to spend a fall afternoon is by playing your favorite game. We also know there’s no better way to motivate you to jump in than to set up some discounts during the Steam Autumn Sale – so here they are.

Over the past couple of months, you have seen us periodically talk about our co-production effort with the legendary strategy masterminds from 2×2 Games, Unity of Command II. Other than a few streams and trailers that showcased the gameplay it was all talk so far, but as Mr. Dylan would say – times, they are a-changin’.
We’re super happy today to announce that the development of Unity of Command II is all but finished, and the game is slated for November 2019 release on Steam. Before 2×2 Games launches the game, they are looking for a brand new batch of beta testers to join the wargaming fun in an upcoming closed-beta due to start on October 21st.
To sign up for a chance to participate, get more info on the beta, and check out a brand new dev-diary, please go to unityofcommand.net.
The private beta will be available Windows via Steam and will include single-player and hot-seat multiplayer modes.
