Day 2 hello from GAMESCOM 2014!

Overwhelming. That's basically the only word that describes response to the Talos Principle demo we've been showcasing for the past two days!

It's been awesome in Cologne so far and we are loving every minute of it! Both of our narrative designers, Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes did a hell of a job at Devolver Digital stand in hall 4.1 converting lots of newcomers to instant Talos fans, mostly among the media and press.

Meanwhile, our MEGABOOTH stand was under occupation, with people lining up to play Talos for the first time. We secured 2 desktop stations, 1 XMG laptop and 2 new nVidia Shield tablets for you guys, but it's simply not enough, so we'll bring more tomorrow, as we want to give everyone chance to play. Visit us tomorrow and prepare to be blown away by Talos!

Day 1 hello from GAMESCOM 2014!

The Gamescom was officially opened this morning for public, which made our Cologne team very very happy, as we could finally put Talos in front of people we make games for! And boy was that fun! As part of the Indie MEGABOOTH (located in hall 10.1) Croteam was blessed with an opportunity to listen first-hand what you boys and girls have to say about Talos' gameplay and story. It was really great watching people playing our game and discovering how all these mechanics work, while experiencing glimpses of story that justify the adjective "philosophical" in our tagline. And you people did good - many of you were so persistent and didn't want to give up, and it was a pure pleasure for us watching you solve final puzzle and experiencing that moment of epiphany, knowing you proved yourself worthy of the challenge!

We revealed our new FP3 (first person philosophical puzzler) at E3 Expo in Los Angeles last week. Judging by the previews and comments popping out each day, we are on the right track as many of you find this change of pace very intriguing and positive. I heard some people weren't sure what's going on now with Croteam and my yesterday's Idiot Simulator game leak announcement. You most likely also heard Goat Simulator is about to be released on Steam today. Rest assured, it's both legit and not April Foul's day.

Even more, Croteam is listening to your thoughts. So, they have opened an official email: idiotsimulator@croteam.com, so anyone interested can email their thoughts on Idiot Simulator, what you want to do in the game etc. So, fire up gamers! More you write, more it becomes a real game diamond!

Hello Croteam fans from Mr. Pinky!

I am finally returning back home from my well deserved vacation.

Let me tell you, first eight years I was travelling around the world, meeting interesting people and generally enjoying myself. It passed like it was yesterday. In that time Croteam was kind enough not to legally pursue my persona and I thank their CEO for that. After that, for the next two years or so, I took extra time to relax from this vacation. So, here I am, relaxed and ready again to lead the spy team to get you that juicy news on Croteam.

I am still fighting with jet lag, so I have check out now, but let me just first give you a quick tease (from still-in-construction web page) that Croteam is working on a therapy action simulation game called Idiot Simulator!

With Idiot Simulator it seems Croteam is jumping to all the big noise that Goat, Bear and other (are there any?) Simulator games are currently making. Btw, Goat Simulator is to be released tomorrow on Steam and Bear is on Kickstarter, so it's worth checking both.

Not sure how I feel about that right now. I like the word "therapy" in the description though, I am always for that. But, not sure if I would ever want to start that game, as then I have a feeling I just wouldn't be able to stop playing. Yes, I admit, I do have a lot of people on THE (idiot) list, so I am probably not the best one to comment.

Anyhow, more inside info on Idiot Simulator tomorrow in my Serious Tuesday update.

We got a word yesterday that Serious Sam 3: BFE has passed Microsoft's Xbox 360 certification.

In plain words that means official MS testing was successful and the game is ready for a release.

Serious Sam 3: BFE is scheduled to be released sometime in October. More on the exact release date on XBLA will be shared later on...

• New "game overlay" menu is now used instead of the old player list. It ofers:

  - Shows "Host" in the ping column for the host player,
  - Display overlay while playing in the background, or lock into full UI,

• Server details display with customized settings in server list.
• Added support for custom map rotation lists.

Most Serious Sam fans probably already know that the next update for Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter will feature the long awaited Deathmatch mode.

But what they probably don't know is that it will include 7 Deathmatch maps (some are remakes of our the most popular maps from previous games and some are brand new).

Also, it will support the spectator mode, map rotation and viewing server details (game options set on the server) from the server browser and from in-game, and have improved text chat, detailed logging of chat messages, kills and player joining (in a parser-friendly format, so custom stat trackers can be created).

Oh, and you probably want to know when? We are in the final stages of testing and bugfixing and we hope will finally be ready for release this week.

CDV Publishes PC Classic

CDV Software Entertainment AG works together with Croteam and Devolver Digital to develop Serious Sam HD for the PC, which will be released in all territories (except in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independant States) in retail stores and as a digital download, in autumn 2009.

Serious Sam was released in 2001 and received numerous awards, including Game of the Year from Gamespot and the Editor's Choice award from IGN. Based on Croteam's Serious Engine 3, Serious Sam HD sticks to the original by sending the hero to the battlefields of various ancient civilizations against Mental's armies. Here is the brief update on the events from both the business and development side:

Since the Serious Sam 2 was released in end of 2005, we have been working hard on a number of things, one of which is new next-gen 'Serious Engine 3' technology. More on this will come in future updates.

We have also recently started the development on two games, one of which is the next Serious Sam FPS game. Here, we are pretty close in signing the publishing deal, so when that happens, you'll hear it here as well.

Regarding military game we were working for some time, that development was halted some time ago by investors and publishers. We were doing a 'work-for-hire' development there, so after the game was put on hold, there was nothing more to do there and we moved back to our projects. Obviously, the above also means that our next title won't be published by Gamecock, as contrary to last year's published press release by Gamecock.

Finally, to reassure again all our fans, our development is going great on all three projects and we will soon have exciting things to show. Since a lot still has to be done, especially on the next Sam game, we don't have a firm release date on it yet. When we do, we'll announce it here on our pages.
