CDV Publishes PC Classic
CDV Software Entertainment AG works together with Croteam and Devolver Digital to develop Serious Sam HD for the PC, which will be released in all territories (except in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independant States) in retail stores and as a digital download, in autumn 2009.
Serious Sam was released in 2001 and received numerous awards, including Game of the Year from Gamespot and the Editor's Choice award from IGN. Based on Croteam's Serious Engine 3, Serious Sam HD sticks to the original by sending the hero to the battlefields of various ancient civilizations against Mental's armies. The same speed and action-packed game mechanics and the characteristic humor have been preserved and will shine like new in high definition!
"We were thrilled by the idea of resurrecting Sam with spectacular HD visuals and pimping him up for Xbox LIVE. Sam's fanbase is still very active and motivated us to do this project. Therefore, we are happy to confirm that Sam will return as cocky, bold, and sharp-witted as always to the screens of his loyal fans and to new players as well," said Roman Ribaric, CEO of croteam.
"CDV is very pleased to cooperate with the publishing of Serious Sam HD. The title inherits from its previous success. Even today, Serious Sam still revels in its cult status among gamers. The production of an HD version of this classic is good news for all PC gamers," said Arne Peters, COO of CDV Software Entertainment AG.

Majesco Entertainment:
Classic Shooter Franchise Reborn in Glorious High Definition for Late Summer Release
EDISON, N.J., June 25, 2009 – Legions of long-time fans and a whole new generation of gamers around the world can now experience serious shooting mayhem as Majesco Entertainment, an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, today announced that Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD is coming to Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Developed by Croteam, the creators of the Serious Sam franchise, and produced in partnership with Devolver Digital, Serious Sam: The First Encounter is re-tooled and re-vamped in glorious High Definition with an all-new version of the CroTech engine.
“We are really excited to update our hero and recreate Sam in stunning high definition for Xbox LIVE Arcade players,” said Roman Ribaric, CEO of Croteam. “The fans have lobbied us hard to do this, so we are stoked about bringing Sam back as big, bold and bad as he ever was.”
The game is being produced by Devolver Digital, a brand new production and publishing company based in Austin, Texas, specializing in delivering top quality entertainment to gamers worldwide at affordable prices by any and all means available.
“We are almost inappropriately excited that this fun and robust game is our first humble offering to gamers worldwide,” said an unnamed, masked spokesperson for Devolver Digital. “And bridging the gap between the fine folks at Croteam and Majesco feels good too. It’s a long way from Croatia to New Jersey, but worth the walk.”
“Xbox LIVE Arcade is an important platform in our overall strategic plan,” said Gui Karyo, Executive Vice President of Operations for Majesco. “Serious Sam has a long history of console success and this graphically enhanced version is a great first title to kick off our Xbox Live Arcade initiative.”
Serious Sam HD is not your mother’s generic, large-scale, orchestral scored, Space Marine-themed epic FPS with dialog that pretends it’s an RPG...instead, Serious Sam HD is a grab you by the jibblies run and gun, twitch FPS: BIG guns, TONS of enemies, 4-Player Online Co-Op and stunningly superfluous HD graphics that rival retail boxed games. You've waited forever but Serious Sam is back from the nether with its award-winning game play that will remind you why you play FPSs in the first place.

Serious Update
|
May 11, 2009 |
|
Here is the brief update on the events from both the business and development side:
Since the Serious Sam 2 was released in end of 2005, we have been working hard on a number of things, one of which is
new next-gen 'Serious Engine 3' technology. More on this will come in future updates.
We have also recently started the development on two games, one of which is the next Serious Sam FPS game. Here, we are pretty close in
signing the publishing deal, so when that happens, you'll hear it here as well.
Regarding military game we were working for some time, that development was halted some time ago by investors and publishers.
We were doing a 'work-for-hire' development there, so after the game was put on hold, there was nothing more to do there and we moved back
to our projects. Obviously, the above also means that our next title won't be published by Gamecock, as contrary to last
year's published press release by Gamecock.
Finally, to reassure again all our fans, our development is going great on all three projects and we will soon have exciting things to show.
Since a lot still has to be done, especially on the next Sam game, we don't have a firm release date on it yet. When we do, we'll
announce it here on our pages.
Stay serious,
Roman Ribaric
